Biography

I am interested in how works of Sanskrit poetics account for the aesthetic and affective experience of the reader or listener of poetry. I concentrate largely on medieval Kashmiri authors to answer this question and generate new questions. I am also interested in theories of linguistic meaning from elsewhere in classical Indian scholarship, and how these may apply to the experience of poetry. Finally, I have interests in comparative literature and in translation theory and practice.
