Biography
Nell is a student of Sanskrit literature whose research explores interpretations of the epic Mahābhārata in classical Sanskrit poetry and drama. Her dissertation is about the Pañcarātra (“The Five Nights”), an early and enigmatic representation of the Mahābhārata in Sanskrit drama. Nell’s research interests also include Sanskrit literary theory and performance studies.
Nell is the co-editor of Many Mahābhāratas (forthcoming from SUNY Press), a collection of eighteen essays on retellings of the Mahābhārata across South Asian languages and literary genres.
For several years, Nell served as a Senior Teaching Consultant at the Chicago Center for Teaching, where she worked with graduate student teachers one-on-one to support student learning in their classrooms.
