Biography

Margherita Trento is a student of Tamil literature and early modern history whose dissertation explores the social, cultural and literary history of Catholicism in Tamil-speaking South India in the 17th and 18th centuries. She is also engaged in parallel projects on Tamil Śaiva siddhānta in 16th-century Chidambaram, and on songs and popular literature about saints and heroes in southern Tamil Nadu and Travancore in the late 18th century.
