Biography

I am a Ph.D. student studying Indo-Persian literary culture. I am interested in exploring the shifting literary practices and tastes that were involved in the (re)creation of the literary and poetic qualities of Sanskrit literature in translation into Persian. My project focuses on Mughal-era Persian literary translations, retranslations and retellings of Sanskrit story-collections and the epics, through questions of textual and intertextual practices, genre, commentary writing, reception history, and multilingualism in South Asia. My languages of research are Persian, Sanskrit, and Arabic.
